Is Charm-eleon Coming To a Town Near You?

It's nearly the end of November which means not only are people starting to put up their trees, setting up their advent calendars and buying those turkeys....its CHRISTMAS FAIR SEASON!

I dont know about you but I absolutely LOVE Christmas fairs. From eating chestnuts and watching nativity plays, to drinking mulled wine and purchasing the most gorgeous handmade products from a variety of Christmassy stalls.

At home we've decided on a white tree this year with purple and silver decorations (including purple hanging chocolates) and have already got stockings and lights to fill every crook and cranny in the living room. When it starts to look like Santa's grotto, only then will I slow down ;)

If you haven't heard already on our Facebook page and Twitter feed, Charm-eleon are holding two jewellery stalls at Christmas Fairs this year which means you have DOUBLE the chance of grabbing all the food jewellery goodies and handmade stocking delights without the post and packaging costs!

Our first stall is at Davison High School in Worthing (Postcode BN11 2JX) on the 30th November......NEXT FRIDAY.....from 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

Our second appearance is at St Nicholas Church in Brighton (Postcode BN1 3LH) on Saturday the 15th December, from 10am - 4pm.

It would be lovely to see you all there, so if you're not busy be sure to pop in and say hello!

Fallen Angel And Scary Dolls - How To Recreate The Look For Halloween!

With Halloween creeping up on us this Wednesday and people stocking up on pumpkins, decorations and plenty of booze, there's always that difficult decision on what scary thing to go as each year! Well this year, to help you out, I thought I'd share a couple of creepy looks that have already been tried and tested last weekend!

I love 'how to get the look' blog posts so seeing as I ventured out dressed as a fallen angel on Saturday night, I thought I would share my spooky face and tell you what I used to create the look! There's no need to splash out on unnecessary makeup sets and overpriced costumes. All you need is your makeup box, a couple of mates and a bit of creativity and here's how to do it. (I apoligise for the pictures not being the best quality):

  1. Start with your best moisturiser or primer to set your skin up for long last perfection.
  2. complete your base makeup as normal using foundation and power to set, however if you wish to go for a paler look use a base makeup that is lighter than your natural skin colour.
  3. Apply bronzer and blusher (however if you wish to have a ghostly skin tone leave these two out)
  4. Fill in your eyebrows with a dark brown or black eyebrow liner for a more dramatic look.
  5. Using a light blue eye shadow (you may wish to use one that contains glitter) cover your eyelid up to the halfway point between your lid and eyebrow.
  6. Fill in the rest of the space with a white eyeshadow and blend down towards your eyelid so that the white now fades into blue.
  7. Using a black eyeliner circle your eyes from your inner inner eye all the way round ready to join and cover your tear duct.
  8.  From the outer corner of your eye flick the eyeliner into various curl shapes to the halfway point between your brow and hairline and then down to the bottom of your ear. Build up the colour until the middle of the pattern is completely black.
  9. Take a glitter eyeliner and draw glittery lines inbetween the ones drawn with your black eyeliner. Once you have filled every gap flick some glitter lines from the black middle outwards to join the others.
  10. Take a thick black pencil liner and fill in your lips, starting with your lip line (You can extend this if you want a fuller looking pout) and filling in the middle.
  11. Finally take a bottle of fake blood (available everywhere around this time of year) and drip it from the corner of your bottom lip halfway down your chin.
  12. As for your hair, I backcombed mine for a 'just out of bed look', however there's plenty of colour sprays and scary hair accessories for you to have some fun!

If you don't feel like going as a fallen angel/ evil fairy give the look below a try instead. My two friends dressed as very scary looking dolls and generously let me share their look and how to create it too.

  1. Start with your best moisturiser or primer to set your skin up for long last perfection.
  2. complete your base makeup as normal using foundation and power to set, however if you wish to go for a paler look use a base makeup that is lighter than your natural skin colour.
  3. Apply a generous amount of blusher on each cheek for a doll like appearance
  4. using white halloween paint, a white eyeliner or white eyeshadow draw a half circle of white under each eye as big or small as you like.
  5. Using a black eyeliner create a line around this semi circle and draw on fake eyelashes as the bottom to create the illusion of larger eyes.
  6. Spot on small or large freckles on each cheek
  7. For doll lips, use a red lipstick or pencil to draw small lips on the inside of your own to give the look of a permanent pout.
  8. For a scary touch add stiches or scars across your neck, cheeks or forehead
  9. For your costume why splash out on a dolls dress or spend hours making your own? Every girl has a little black dress in her wardrobe and a couple of bows in your draw so nows the time to make use of them!

Get creating! :D

Bored Of Your Nail Polish Collection? Here's Three Ways To Achieve A Unique Look!

Red, black, pink, green, sparkly and crackled, we all have a nail collection that's filled with all the colours under the sun, or in my case to probably match every outfit hanging in my wardrobe. However sometimes I get bored with a simple colour and although I've tried crackled polish and bright neon colours, I wanted something more.

I started to investigate what else I could do with my nails and found these three funky styles below which I fell in love with.

1: Newspaper nails

How to achieve the look: First paint your nails white, then dip each one in surgical spirit and hold a newspaper page over the top until the print has come off. This may work with magazines as well.
Go experiment!

2: Sunset Nails

Tip: Don't put too much polish onto the sponge and wait until the polish is completely dry before removing the excess around the edge.

3: Nail decorations

I went into my local pound store and discovered these gorgeous little nail decoration sets. There was one with stars, hearts and flowers and one filled with tiny butterflies and dragonflies. I couldn't resist getting both!

To achieve the look: First paint your nails with a colour of your choice. Then paint a top coat of clear nail varnish onto the first nail, take your deco and push it onto the nail until it sticks.
Repeat with each nail and once they are all firmly stuck, then go over each nail again with another coat of clear varnish.

What funky nail styles have you recently discovered? Feel free to post a link to your recent nail posts too!

Yummy Recipe Post: Chorizo And Crisps Tortilla

As a change I thought for a new blog post I would share a really yummy recipe I've recently discovered! - Chorizo and crisps tortilla (the cheat version)

The tortilla is really simple to make and goes perfectly with a light salad and coleslaw when the sun's out, or French bread and baked beans on a more rainy day.

The ingredients you need are the following:

  • 25 g bag of good quality crisps
  • ½ onion
  • 200 g chorizo sausage
  • Olive oil for frying
  • A pinch of table salt
You could also add peppers, herbs or real sliced potatoes for a more authentic spanish taste.

How to make it:

1. Slice the onion thinly and fry on a non-sticking pan with a splash of oliver oil over a high heat, stirring from time to time.

2. Add the chopped chorizo and cook for a further 2 mins.

3. Mix the crisps with the onion, chorizo and eggs and season with salt. If possible pour the mixture into a jug or bowl and leave to soak for at least 30 mins.

4. Wipe the pan and bring back to the stove over a medium heat. Drizzle olive oil and pour the tortilla mixture into the pan  and lower the heat.

5. After 5 minutes, cover the pan with a plate (always wider than the pan) and, holding it tight with your hand, flip the tortilla onto the plate. Then slide the un-side-cooked tortilla back into the pan.

6. Serve whilst warm.

If you have any delicious recipes you've discovered be sure to share them with us below!

News Update: Celebs love food Jewellery!!

I've been so busy lately I now have a few blog posts lined up to publish, so thought I would start with a celeb inspired post as I've been catching up with all the glossy magazines and TV shows!

Little Mix recently appeared on The Alan Carr show - Chatty Man and I was made up to see that Jade was wearing a food jewellery inspired cake and biscuit selection ring, much like the ring we sell here at Charm-eleon! We love to see celebrities spreading the word about funky food jewellery pieces.

Here is the pic Jade Thirlwall tweeted before the show with a pic of the girls on Alan's sofa.
Take a look at our other food jewellery rings

However little Mix aren't the only newly discovered celebs to show off their love for food jewellery, as at the end of last year Cher Lloyd was also spotted wearing an iced gem ring whilst she performed her hit single “With ur love” on the X Factor.

Our iced gem rings, in assorted colours, will be available very soon so watch this space

Jessie J of course has always been a girl to love outrageous clothes, funky hair do's and a unique style of shoes so why should her jewellery be any different? She was recently spotted showing off an English Breakfast Ring.

(Left: Our breakfast ring just like Jessies' is available here)

So who do we think is the biggest food jewellery fan of? No it's not Lady GaGa or nicki minaj......

It has to be the lovely Katy Perry!

Amongst the candy cane hair styles, cream bun breasts and sweet sprinkle nail art, Katy Perry started off her collection with a roast dinner ring given to her as a present from a fan! Now she has a beans on toast ring, a gummy bear knuckle duster and a plate of biscuits to show off to the world! What a perfect way to compliment her many sugary inspired outfits.

Get your roast dinner ring here and start a food jewellery collection of your own!

We'd love to know what your favourite food jewellery product is?

P.S If you're a passionate blogger and you love our food  inspired jewellery, we'd love to hear from you! We are currently looking for a blog to review one of our products so please get in touch on our Facebook or Twitter page. Or alternatively email us at laura@charm-eleon.co.uk

These are a few of my favourite 'vintage' things

I've always loved vintage products, however recently i've been slowly building a wish list with a few i've seen around. So I thought I'd shared a few of my favourites with you all below....

Love, Laugh Live photo frame from Next

I loved this frame from the moment I spotted it in my local store and already started planning the pictures I could fill it with. It could easily hang in any room and would be really cute as a present too!

Vintage miniature draw set from Velvet

At £18 these miniature set of draws are fairly expensive, but I still love them! Great for storing your fashionable food jewellery ;) or other little goodies and would go perfectly with other vintage looking furniture!

Bird duvet set from Asda

At just £11 (double) this gorgeous duvet is a bargain! It has great online reviews too and looks so pretty! I can't wait to purchase this one as it would look great with my green bedroom and other vintage accessories.

I'm desperate for one of these beautiful cushions! Each one is delicately handmade and is just one of the many gorgeous designs available :)

New butterfly range from Matalan

These miniature draws are adorable along with the other products in this new butterfly range from Matalan! Theres also a large box, wall signs, mirrors and door hooks. I'd love to have the complete set!

Now for something I have purchased recently......

Daisy dress from Primark

A bargain at £3 down from £5, this dress was hard to resist. Its lightweight, really comfy and will go with almost anything in my wardrobe from leggings and cardigans to lace up boots and jean jackets!

Here at Charm-eleon ,we have also created our own vintage food jewellery range and have nearly completed our new necklace and ring products. Here's a sneak peak below...

If you would like to pre-order anything above, please get in touch at laura@charm-eleon.co.uk, or leave a comment below, as our new vintage range products are limited

Have you purchased anything vintage recently?
